Somatic Experiencing
I am a fully qualified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. I apply the theories of this nervous system based therapy in all my work but also offer it as a stand-alone service.
About Somatic Experiencing
What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented approach to healing stress and trauma, developed by Dr. Peter Levine. Rather than focusing primarily on talking through experiences in detail, SE works with the nervous system directly — helping you notice and release the physical sensations, patterns of tension, and stored survival responses that can remain in the body long after a stressful or traumatic event has passed.
Sessions are mainly conversational, guided by gentle attention to bodily sensation, but they may also include light, supportive touch work where appropriate. This can help the nervous system settle and complete protective responses that were interrupted at the time of the original stress or trauma. Touch is always used with clear consent and at a pace led by the client.

My specialism
As a bodyworker, I have particular expertise in using Somatic Experiencing for chronic pain, body tension, and the relief of stress and anxiety. My hands-on background allows me to combine SE's nervous-system approach with an attuned, body-based understanding of how tension and pain patterns show up physically — helping clients find lasting relief and a greater sense of ease in their bodies.
Somatic Experiencing is a complementary therapy and is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment. If you have a medical or mental health condition, please continue to consult your GP or relevant healthcare provider.
